A set of matryoshkas consist of a wooden figure which separates, top from bottom, to reveal a smaller figure of the same sort inside, which has, in turn, another figure inside of it, and so on. Russian dolls are often sets of 3, 5, 7 or 10 dolls but they can go, for the biggest ones, till 64 dolls. Most of them are made from birch or linden wood.
