The Smurfs is a Belgian comic book series created by Peyo (real name Pierre Culliford) in 1958 but the origin of the word Smurf comes from a joke between Peyo and the cartoonist Franquin. Here's how Peyo tells it: "I asked him at the table to pass me the… the… and not finding the word I said to him: 'Pass me the smurf.' He said to me: 'Here's the smurf'. I said to him: 'Thank you for smurfing it to me, when I no longer need it I'll smurf it to you again'. That's how the whole evening the two friends developed the Smurf language and subsequently, they created the little blue men who corresponded to this new language.

Since then, the Smurfs have invaded the entire world. In fact, everyone can be a Smurf depending on the day and our moods. Grumpy, Greedy, Fearful, In Love, it doesn't matter, you'll smurf the right Smurf!
